Recently I had the opportunity to share the Centa Partners journey and our guiding principles.
I explained we follow a simple framework - Purpose, Process, People
I was asked "why do you put people last? how does that build culture"
Now, we've all had those moments when the blood drains from your face when something you've said has not landed with the desired intention.
I took the moment to provide some much needed context.
Purpose, Process, People isn't ranked by order of importance.
The framework is designed to ensure our people know what the business stands for, what success looks like, how they do their role and what training, development and opportunities for advancement there are.
Without a clear simple Purpose;
How do we know what your business stands for?
How do we know what success looks like?
How do we know we share common values?
Without clear simple Processes;
How do we know what our role is?
How do we know how to do our role and what is expected?
How do we know what structure is in place to help?
How do we know what systems to use and what training there is?
Once these are defined you are able to empower your people, no-one knows more than the team member who spends everyday working in their role but they need context to contribute to improvements and more success.
Our people should never be last, but without being clear on your Purpose and Process they can never feel like they are first.
Context……it'll get you every time.
