Lists Are Fun, but Easy to Ignore

As I moved into leadership, I found that I had more to do, more people wanting my attention and time seemed to slip away.

Enter timeboxing. Instead of simply jotting down what you need to do, I allocated specific time blocks for each task in my calendar.

This method not only boosts productivity but also helps you stay focused and accountable.

For example, instead of writing “work on project” on your list, schedule 9:00-9:45 am specifically for that task. During that period, you concentrate solely on the project, free from other distractions.

By keeping tasks to 45 minutes, you give yourself the final 15 minutes of the hour to take a break, respond to urgent requests, or re-prioritise your tasks.

Timeboxing allows you to respect the time you have and keeps you accountable.

By dedicating time slots, you transform your to-dos from mere intentions into actionable commitments.

Give timeboxing a try and see how it can revolutionise your approach to daily tasks, ensuring you achieve more with your time and stay on top of your responsibilities.
