Productivity unknowns keep coming up when I'm speaking with business leaders.
With the shift to a hybrid working model, many leaders are finding it challenging to measure and manage productivity effectively.
In the pre-COVID days, productivity was often measured by the hours spent in the office. But now, with remote work becoming a significant part of our lives, we need new measures.
So, how do we tackle this?
Set clear, achievable goals for your team
When everyone knows what success looks like, it’s easier to measure progress. Break down larger projects into smaller, manageable tasks with specific deadlines. This not only keeps everyone on track but also helps in maintaining a sense of accomplishment
Communicate clearly, simply and often
In a hybrid world, staying connected can be challenging, but it’s not impossible. Regular check-ins, virtual meetings and collaborative tools can bridge the gap. Encourage open communication and make sure your team feels supported, whether they’re in the office or working from home
Leverage technology
There are a number of tools available that can help track productivity. Tools like project management software, time-tracking applications and performance dashboards provide valuable insights into how your team is performing
The key is to use tools to empower, not micromanage.
Give your team the tools the need to operate and trust them to manage their time and deliver results. Focus on measures of the results rather than hours logged.
What’s been your biggest productivity challenge in this hybrid working world and how have you addressed them?
