Perfection is the Enemy of Progress

I recently had a conversation with some founders who were working on an innovative new product.

They were passionate, driven and committed to creating something exceptional. But as they moved through the design and R&D phase, they found themselves caught in a cycle of constant iteration - each time striving for perfection. It was starting to take a toll on their progress and plans.

We’ve all been there. We want what we produce to be the best it can be - I’ve re-read this post 15 times, it’s still not perfect and it can’t be (ChatGPT is not that great.......yet)

Every step we take, everything we produce, is one step closer to our goal. But if we aim for perfection at every turn, we risk losing sight of how far we’ve already come. The key is to recognise when good is good enough and to keep moving forward.

Progress, not perfection, should be the goal, because only then can we truly appreciate the journey and the growth we’ve achieved.

How do you balance striving for quality with the need to keep progressing?
